I have been painting several things recently and making good progress until disaster struck. I had half of the terrain in the Escape From Goblin Town Set painted up and ready to be varnished and when a relatively cool morning presented itself I jumped at the chance to do so. Unfortunately, I oversprayed the terrain which led to major frosting. I lost a lot of the painting progress I made and have since been working to repaint the terrain in addition to doing new things. I definitely learned my lesson when it comes to varnishing and I’m now looking into getting an airbrush to handle this task instead of using a spray can. This will likely delay my progress in actually playing Hobbit SBG but there will still be lots of hobby updates to share in the meantime.
To make up for this setback, I decided to paint Gloin. I found that he was pretty fun to paint and I really tried to get his beard and axes looking good as well as some freehand on the coat. I’m happy with how Gloin turned out and think he is a bit better than the previous dwarf which was what I was striving for.
I’m refocusing my efforts now on terrain and finishing up the 12 goblins. I’ll hopefully have those to show off soon!
Nice work. You can certainly see the Gimli connection with this model!
