Its a very modest update from me this week. I worked on another Kingdom Rush mini which is the last base game hero yet to be painted. I hear that she might be the best character in the board game so I look forward to trying her out in the near future. Seeing as how she’s a ranger, it was a pretty straightforward paint job. I wish that the face had better sculpting as I’m not overly fond of how it looks though I guess its pretty close to the game’s art.

In both the video game and the board game, she has a wildcat personal assistant so here they are together for good measure.

My apologies for all the “dirt” on my background. I think its about ready for retirement. With Alleria done, I have three miniatures to go in the Kingdom Rush base game. They’re all boss characters that I won’t need for a bit so I’ll focus on playing the game and when I get further along, I’ll likely paint those up. After giving it some thought, I think I’ll focus on painting Fallout and Hellboy in the meantime. I need to get more stuff done for both of those games to be able to do something new with those games so I better get after it. I might even work on some dreaded terrain in the near future!

Outside of this, I’ve been very busy playing Planet Zoo on PC/Steam. Has anybody played it or Zoo Tycoon for that matter? I’ve been a big fan of the series even with the lengthy hiatus it went on between Zoo Tycoon and Planet Zoo. Planet Zoo is pretty amazing because it has a much bigger and better sandbox engine. You can really build some complex and intricate stuff. The animals in the game are much more lifelike than in previous versions too. I’m currently working on beating the Campaign on hard for achievements and its taking longer than I expected. Once that is done, I can focus more just on making zoos and animal exhibits for the fun of it so depending on how that goes, I might show off a little bit of what I create. That is assuming, of course, that I can actually manage anything impressive!
Nice work on her! I really like the effect youβve managed on the hair, has a real cell shaded look to it.

I’m glad to hear it because that is where I spent the most time on this particular mini! It was large and pretty easy to work with, thankfully.

Excellent work on the Ranger Jeff, you’ve managed to capture a lot of feeling in the face even though it is a shallow sculpt, and more Hellboy and Fallout is something very much to look forward to.

It is amazing how we painters take for granted little face details that great sculpts have like in Warhammer. Those make it so much easier to get great results. I’ve already started on something Fallout, if I don’t get distracted by a surprise Warhammer mini that I also dug up!

Whatever you show next, will no doubt be outstanding.

Lovely work on the miniature… and as for planet zoo…my bloody wolves kept escaping.

Thanks, mate! I have quite a few escapees, myself. Last night I had snow leopards climbing on their shelter which can only mean they’re plotting an escape!

Thank you, John! I used to paint quite a lot of rangers back in the day so it was nice to return to a familiar subject π

Great job on the little ranger! I like the highlights on the cloak. I donβt think I would have chose that color to highlight the hair, but it looks really good! Not in a bad way, just a βI wouldnβt have thought of that!β way. Hope that makes sense!

Thanks, Brian! The hair color is not realistic, in my opinion, but since this a cartoonish, fantasy world, I think the hair colors works pretty well. I’m glad to hear you like it too!

By changing up the values and some blending though, itβs not hard to push it towards realism
though. Plus, donβt forget hair dyes!

That is true. Even fantasy worlds can have hair dye! They can also have any color of hair really so I guess I picked a good one to experiment on in that sense.
