While I’m still not completely caught up on what everyone has been up to over the past month, I’m doing the best I can and have been enjoying hobbying for the most part this week. It has been a welcome refuge from a truly crazy work week too. I did get the Scibor Dwarf up at Cool Mini or Not, so if you’d like to vote on him, you can do so here. Absolutely no pressure to do so. I always feel a bit weird soliciting votes but I’m slowly starting to accept that that is part of the whole process. I haven’t made as much progress on the Dark Angel as I hoped so today I will show off some of the things I’ve completed for Fallout recently.

While perhaps not among the most exciting miniatures, I had a good time painting Mama Murphy (she’s the one in the front-center) who has some nice details on the sculpt. I got a bit of freehand in on her hat which is unfortunately kind of hard to see in the picture above. For anyone curious, Mama Murphy is a drug using psychic in Fallout 4 and while she is a very minor character and a non-combatant basically, she seems like she has interesting mechanics in the game so I look forward to using her in the future. I’m also halfway through the Survivors box so making pretty steady progress there.

While he isn’t entirely new, I finished up Codsworth (and a piece of terrain with a dead tree in it which you can only partially see because it doesn’t fit in my lightbox well) recently. Not a ton to say about him other than that, I’m really proud of him still, especially now that the rust is on him. It is kind of a delicate process applying the rush as there are a lot of pieces that can get in your way but I think I captured the look of the game and did ol’ Codsworth justice. I also look forward to using him on the tabletop and recreating some of my adventures in Fallout π

While I hope to take a scenic picture with some terrain one day, the picture above is how the “Heroes of Sanctuary Hills” look all together. I thought that picture was really crisp and had nice details so I figured it was worth sharing even though you’ve likely seen these mini before.

Finally, I have a shiny Super Mutant who I haven’t varnished yet or added rust effects but is otherwise done. Truthfully, he is not my best of the super mutants and I think I got a bit burnt out while working on this guy. I wanted to get him done because knew that I only needed one more for playing Fallout 4. I don’t typically like to show stuff that is unfinished but because I plan to do a rust painting tutorial using this guy and I figured why not. He doesn’t have as smooth of blends as the previous super mutants but the rust will cover that up by the time I’m done so I doubt that I need to put so much effort in blending but I can’t help it!
Speaking of playing Fallout Wasteland Warfare, I have a few more terrain pieces to finish up and then I think I’m going to try one of the tutorial scenarios, if possible. I’ve been getting the itch to play and once I get the Dark Angel done, I will try and to get back to painting some stuff for gaming so I can actually do a bit of gaming and write some battle reports. I recently purchased some new Fallout sculpts as well since I could tell that was getting a little tired of painting survivors and super mutants so that is something else I will be looking forward to and you can expect to see in the near future.
Looking good mate, I voted for your dwarf π. Out of interest I noticed a whole load of Fallout 3D printable stuff on RPGNow. Vertibirds , cars etc. I thought I would give you a heads up. Aww Mamma Murphy, with her mystic Wisdom. I might have to just play the game again. I fortified every village that I could. Not sure how many hundreds of hours I spent on it. I had Nick as my companion all of the time, I felt guilty letting him go and kept him on. π.

Thanks so much for the vote, Maeno! I really appreciate it, mate.
I will have to take a look at that. It sounds like those might be the official prints that Modiphius has released. I’ve been waiting for what feels like months for them to restock those in the US so I can buy them. It does make buying a printer awfully tempting!
Nick is a great companion and probably my favorite besides Codsworth. I think those were the main two I used in my playthrough too π

With over 1000 hours logged on Fallout 4 myself Mama Murphy felt like more than a very minor character for me. More like a slightly annoying extended relative!
You bring the characters to life with your outstanding painting mate!

I think I just never ran into her at Sanctuary Hills so I nearly forgot about her until I saw her in Wasteland Warfare. It makes me really happy that people know the minor characters from Fallout 4 and enjoy seeing their minis π Thanks for the support as always!

Is Mama Murphy wearing crocs!? Nice detail on the socks, I like how you do minor details that make a difference on a figure.

Its funny because I was thinking the same thing when I painted her footwear. Fallout is an alternative history where nuclear bombs were dropped in the 1950’s or 1960’s (I think) and things never recovered but apparently that didn’t stop them from being invented eventually π Thanks for the kind words and those details always end up taking extra time so it makes me glad to hear that they are appreciated!

Very nicely done indeed mate. Must be a joy gaming with quality figures on the table. These Fallout figures do look very interesting I must say and they have a nice lot of detail on them too which you have picked out very well.

Thank you! We’ll see if it is a joy when I get around to it too π If you see some gaming pieces that you like, especially from Games Workshop, I think you should give them a try. One of my painting friends would always tell me, if you paint the highest quality sculpts, it will help you get better and it has made a big difference for me so that is something to ponder π

Your friend is right. No matter how good a painter you are it is extremely difficult to pick out the detail if it isn’t there in the first place. It is one of the biggest reasons why most of my figures only come from a few suppliers, ones that I have found I can trust for quality and detail. You usually get what you pay for. π

These look outstanding, you have a certain painting style that really brings these characters to life. Incredible painting details. To my eyes they actually look too good to be gaming pieces, so I’m curious to see how a battle report would look.

Thanks, Gero! I’ve always thought I had a painting style but its only been recently that people have started commenting on it so may be that it is becoming more pronounced or clearer which is cool. Regardless, I appreciate your kind words and look forward to gaming quite a bit. I think the first time or two I play it will be with just an okay-looking “board” but I think with time, I’ll have some really nice looking terrain which is always my goal π

Great job on the miniatures and happy to see you blogging again. I voted for your dwarf, I gave it an 8 but only because thatβs what I thought you would find accurate. Good luck on the site. π
Your definitely making some great progress with the Fsllout stuff. Iβm anxious for you to actually play the game
Or maybe you have? Play it once with unpainted stuff just to make sure you like it! π

Thanks, Stew! I appreciate your vote and I’m happy to have people vote whatever they think it is worth π I want to earn high scores and not get them through any other means than the quality of my painting, if you know what I mean.
I’m feeling the same way on the anxiety. I think that I can get an okay, if a bit sparse board together once I finish that super mutant in this post so I think I will do that because I want to try the game and make sure I like it before spending a lot more time painting stuff. I’ll certainly write up a battle report when I do so others can see how it went! π

All very nice indeed, but I do like that mutant! π

Thanks John and I’m glad to hear it because there are plenty more super mutants to buy and paint π

Very nice work on these. Murphy looked familiar instantly, so you’ve done a good job on her for sure. My favourite of this bunch though has to be Codsworth!

Cheers, mate! Codsworth took 2-3 weeks to paint and while I questioned it at the time, I think he was absolutely worth it. He’s gotten a lot of positive feedback and comments like yours drive home that I can be proud of him! π
