As the title suggests, I finished the last Assaultron for Fallout Wasteland Warfare finally. It has been sitting on my desk waiting to be painted for quite some time and while I’d often entertained the idea of knocking it out, its taken a long time to actually complete it. There isn’t a lot to say about it since its the third one I’ve painted. I will say I enjoy its anime running pose quite a bit. I assume keeping your arms behind you while running makes you even faster due to aerodynamics but I’ll have to try and report back!

Awhile back I promised that you would see some content using my electric turntable both on Instagram and here. Well, I finally took the time to work out how to do that to celebrate finishing the box of Protectrons and Assaultrons. As I’ve said before, its always a great feeling to finish up a box of minis and this time was no different. Especially considering how well they all turned out. Hopefully this works and is enjoyable for everyone.
While I’ve been working on other gaming stuff, I don’t have anything else ready to show off this week. To my surprise and concern, the urge to take on another display project has started to grow. One possibility is to get a box of Galadhrim Warriors and experiment with different paint schemes. I could paint them so there is one for each season and plop them on display bases. I have some other elven color schemes in mind that could be cool to try out as well. Its something I’ve been thinking about doing for a while and since these are small LOTR minis, it shouldn’t be as time consuming to complete as a larger Warhammer miniature.

Alternatively (or perhaps I should say, additionally), I’d like to paint this Warhammer: Age of Sigmar mini. I think I’ve got a pretty cool color scheme for it that will stand out from what else has been done. This is by far the coolest Sylvaneth or Wood elf mini GW has made in years so I could talk myself into picking this one up too. If all goes well, it could be a future entry into a painting competition.

I don’t think I could go wrong with either option really so we’ll see what kind of trouble I get into in the near future!
Ah yes, the Naruto or ninja running pose. The question is, does he swing them out like wings to attack or a chopping motion? Guess I will have to wait and see. Very well painted as usual
I had a box of Galadhrim at one point but the thought of painting all that gold discouraged me and I traded them away awhile ago.
I agree, I don’t think you go could wrong with either choice.

I’ve never watched Naruto but that is what I was thinking of. I almost said “ninja running pose” as well! ๐ I don’t remember how the Assaultrons attack with chainsaw arms. I should probably jump into Fallout 4 and do some research!
The way GW paints Galadhrim, you can base them in gold, give them a wash, and reapply the base gold color and probably call it a day. The way they’ve painted the ones pictured in the article is really basic and underwhelming. The faces on the miniatures are really simple but the rest of the sculpt is pretty solid and timeless so that is drawing me towards painting them. I know 1stBornPainting on Instagram has had pretty good success painting them too so that is encouraging.
I think the fact that they will take less time to paint is edging me towards them though I wouldn’t be surprised if I pick up that Warhammer mini and paint it this year as I have a clever idea for it, if I can pull it off.

Nice work on the Assaultron, Jeff, and good to see them all on display! ๐ I’d imagine a droid could run with its arms trailing like that, but not a human, since we use them to maintain balance! Will be interesting to see what you choose for future projects, but I like the idea of different colour themes for the seasons.

Thanks, John and you’re probably right on needing our arms for balance. I hadn’t considered it! That is one vote for the Galadhrim. I’m starting to lean in that direction myself ๐

Excellent work on the assaultron Jeff, and great news another box completed as well, and thanks for the video of all of them, a great reminder of all the fantastic work you’ve put into them. I think both ideas have great merit and could be awesome, and look forward to seeing what trouble you get yourself in ! LOL

Thanks for the kind words and I enjoyed making the video and will certainly do more in the future. That sounds like a diplomatic vote for both options! Currently, the Galadhrim lead 2 votes to 1.

Loving the assaultronโฆ in a purely platonic way mind you.
I am all for you painting up Galadhrim in various paint schemes so I can show Mrs. GG and see if it inspires her for her own Galadhrim. ๐

Cheers, mate! Thanks to your vote, the Galadhrim are leading 3-1. I have feeling its pretty decisive at this point. I’ll see what I can do to inspire Mrs. GG too ๐

The Assaultron looks good and grubby. I have to agree with John about the running and for the project choice. Go Seasonal Elves! As an old sometimes runner, I canโt say the backwards swept arms is going to do you much good, haha! The turntable looks really nice for display, Iโd maybe try it with only 1 mini and more zoomed in though.

Thanks for the kind words! The seasonal elves are the clear favorite so that is more than likely what I will do. I’ve never ran so I’m going to take your word for it! My wife told me that she thought the miniatures I chose were not the best for the turntable so there is no winning here! ๐

The assault droid looks cool. I think thatโs supposed to be a pose to indicate fast running.
GW Miniatures are just getting crazy on me (or Iโm getting older). That last one; I can recognize itโs a good looking miniature but wtf is it? ๐

Agreed on the pose and thanks for the kind words as well!
As far as the miniature goes, it is a Sylvaneth which are Warhammer’s version of Ents. GW has changed them from basically just being tree-people to trees that have human “spirits” coming out of them. That is what this guy is. To make it even more unusual, it has an insect on its back which is why it has wings.
My theory is that the Sylvaneth weren’t that popular on their own so they added some things to help them seem a bit more Wood Elf-like (hence the elf torsos on newer sculpts) to try and win over people like me. I guess it worked ๐ There’s no doubt that they’re unusual designs though at the same time!

I love that Assaultron! The weathering on it looks superb, perfect for a robot that’s been languishing in a Vault since the end of civilisation.

Thanks, mate! I’m glad to hear it and I look forward to getting these in a game sometime soon.

The Assaultron looks great – the side view really shows off the model and paint so much more than the front view. The turntable shot is pretty cool – thankfully I didn’t have to login to Instagram, either. ๐
It would certainly be cool to see you paint either of those, or better yet, some sort of tank from WWII! ๐
