As the title promises, I think this is going to be my second to last update on this project. I’ve got two pieces left to paint and assemble and I’m feeling pretty confident that I’ll have this done in a week or so. There isn’t too much to say about the latest progress this time either so I’ll be brief. I had some gluing issues once again and I messed up the surface on the back piece a bit but its hard to notice so I’m not too upset about it. Truthfully, the shield has proven really hard to glue in as well and its on but pretty loosely. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if I have to re-glue it before everything is said and done. At least the back banner looks nice. It wasn’t much fun to paint and I spent a lot of time correcting mistakes I made along the way. My apologies for those who prefer the brown background. I need to print off a new one and didn’t have time this week. It may make a return for the final update on this project. Here’s a look at the Blood Elf as it stands now.

I haven’t decided what I’m going to do with the base of this project so even if I get it fully painted, that might cause a slight delay if I need some new tufts or ground cover. We will see. Either way, I’m happy to be nearing the end and I’m focused on finishing strongly now.
Outside of that, there isn’t much noteworthy going on this week. I have acquired Fallout The Board Game and the Atomic Bonds expansion which makes it a co-op game (perfect for soloing!). I also have some sleeves for the game’s many cards and once those arrive, I think I’ll give it a go and report back. I think I can get by using some of my Fallout Wasteland Warfare minis instead of having to paint up the ones in the game which is a clever way to save some time I think. It should make for a good looking board game as well so I might snap a couple pictures to share afterwards too.
Itβs really coming together, keen to see it done!

Lovinβ it mate, looking forward to seeing what you decide to do with the base. The statue looks great being a slightly different color from the stones. I am usually too lazy for that kind of awesome detail.

Thanks, mate! I have something special planned for the base so we’ll see if it can match the paint job. I always like playing around with new basing things too so it should be fun to put together.

Totally Stunning Jeff, wouldn’t have known it wasn’t finished, as it looks complete as is. With the base, I would be tempted to go minimalist, not to detract from all the other work you’ve done

Thanks, Dave! The weapon is the main thing left but the Elk needs its tail. I think when you see it finished, you’ll appreciate the last couple of pieces. I’m going to try not to go too crazy with the base but I do have a little something special planned at the same time. We’ll see how it works out very soon hopefully!

Too bad the back banner was no fun to paint bc I really like it. Itβs an impressive kit and youβre doing a fantastic job painting it! π

Thanks, Stew! I do like how the banner came out so I guess it was worth the grief in that sense. Very 3D looking if I do say so myself!

It’s still stunning and an absolute testament to your painting skills and patience. As for the base… I guess it could be called boring but at the same time it looks fine and doesn’t detract from the model in any way. Really impressed with your work on this.

Thank you for the kind words, Matt! Its either patience or madness. I can’t tell which any more! π I will add some “life” to the base before it is all done so that is one thing to look forward to hopefully!

Just to reiterate, I think the base looks good as it is. A few tufts might help but having a more monochrome setting for such a colourful mini won’t take away from the awesome job you’ve done on the elf.

I have appreciated that people like the base as it is. I think that is a real compliment because to me it is too bland as it is. I think it needs some natural beauty so adding some tufts was always part of the plan. My hope is that the greenery does not take away from the paint job and I’ll be conscious of that as I start adding things to the base. I appreciate you following up and value your feedback as always! π

Will be interested in seeing what you have planned for the base, but I think I fall in the leave well enough alone group. But seeing your skills, what ever you do will be impressive.

Gorgeous mate… looking forward to seeing what you do with the base.
Meanwhile, I’ll be searching the dictionary for a new superlative ready for the final post!π
