    1. Glad to hear it as I seem to recall you are a fan of the Super Mutants in general! I also hope the bonus article is of interest too. I can see it having some use in the type of settings you like to work in but we shall see 🙂

  1. Off to a fantastic start Jeff, I notice in the reference picture there is also a little pink on the elbows, and a tiny amount on the knees, so you may want to add some to those areas as well. Look forward to the bonus article and your new display project

    1. I think you’re right. I also think I might want to experiment to see if I can come up with a lighter shade of pink that works well for those areas too. Glad to hear it and I think the bonus article will be of interest considering our previous collaboration. That’s a pretty big hint I’m giving away there!

  2. I really like where that super mutant is going. Wonderful job on the skin, really like the reds you’ve worked in there. The rich blue is also really nice, that should work really well with some rust on it.

Interested to see what you got for the smaller brushes, I hope our conversation last post was helpful there.

    1. Thank you, Nic! I haven’t seen anybody else paint the Super Mutants in this way so I am proud of that part of their scheme. I’ll take some better pictures of the skin from different angles as well.

Our conversation did help though I had to buy what the market dictated a bit more than I would have liked but such is life!

  3. Another disgusting figure underway! Fallout Wasteland is not a place for those who like clean bright colors.

    An mystery blog? Cool.

    1. I don’t paint greenskins much so its definitely a change of pace. Fallout does have some nice pops of color in it but the Super Mutants aren’t the best examples of that to be sure.

I think the subject matter might be of interest to you (not that I’m trying to sign you up for new projects, you have plenty like myself) but I’ll be curious to hear what you think of it all the same.

  4. I had to go to a different color palette as I was tired of doing green and browns – that’s why the blue and red victorian gyard!

    1. Variety will keep you in this hobby and tedium and repetition will not! You just reminded me that I misread your Instagram post from the other day and I thought you actually played Aliens vs. Brits(?) so my comment was a bit off base. It was definitely a cool scenic shot and I say this as a non-Aliens fan!

  5. Looking good. I really like the deeper recesses on the skin where the orangey-brown contrasts with the green. Do you start with the brown and work it up into green, or the other way around?

    1. Good question as always, mate. I start with the reddish-brown and work my way up to the greens. It takes a bit of practice to get the colors right as there is a middle phase where it looks a little too red when mixing in the green paint that you want to skip over until it is green enough if that makes any sense.
